Port Klang - Malaysia's principal port
Port Klang is situated on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, about 40 km from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. Its proximity to the greater Klang Valley - the commercial and industrial hub of the country as well as the country's most populous region ensures that the port plays a pivotal role in the economic development of the country. Port Klang is being developed as the National Load Centre and a hub for the region. Port Klang is ranked eighth amongst the world's top 10 container ports, handling 55% of the container trade in Malaysia.Port Klang has trade connections with over 120 countries and dealings with more than 500 ports around the world. Its ideal geographical location makes it the first port of call for major shipping lines and for ships on the eastbound leg and the last port of call on the westbound leg of the Far East-Europe trade route. North Port was designated a Free Commercial Zone in April 1993, followed by West Port in June 1996, with the Port Klang Authority as the Free Zone Administrator. In line with the Free Zones Act 1990 and within the context of a FCZ, only commercial activity such as trading, breaking bulk, grading, re-packing, re-labelling and transit are allowed in Port Klang. Any form of manufacturing activity is strictly forbidden. Services available include berthing facilities, ancillary services (stevedoring, forklift/crane hire, ship repair, etc.) and storage facilities. In view of the rapid development and promotional activities in Port Klang and as the major trans-shipment hub in the region, Globelink Malaysia has started the bonded trucking services to and fro Port Klang covering Penang and Johor Bahru/Pasir Gudang, to provide a more efficient alternative route with a much competitive rate and better transit time for our LCL consolidationactivities.

Pasir Gudang / Kuantan / Penang - other ports in Malaysia
Other than Port Klang, Globelink also operates via the older Johor Port in Pasir Gudang. When Johor Port first commissioned in mid-1977, had the capacity for handling 650,000 tonnes of dry cargo and 1.5 million tonnes of liquid cargo. Presently, its capacity has increased to over 10 million tonnes of cargo per year. The port has six berths including one twin berth oil jetty in the Liquid Cargo Zone and two ocean wharves, a wharf for bulk cargoes, a container wharf in the dry cargo zone, two 710-metre long container wharves, and a jetty specifically equipped for handling hazardous cargo. The Kuantan Port, located at Tanjung Gelang, about 25 kms north of Kuantan, is also one of the area where Globelink Malaysia operates. This port has an extensive hinterland which covers the three east coast states of Peninsular Malaysia, namely Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan. The major export commodities of the area are timber, chemicals ( Non Dg & Dg ) and palm oil. The other port where Globelink Malaysia is also active, is non-other than Port of Penang. It is an international seaport located strategically in the Straits of Melaka, on the north-west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It serves as an important transhipment centre for cargo to and from countries in the region. It is an ideal all-weather haven for ships from the East and West. The port facilities comprise a container yard measuring 25,000 square metres, an open handstanding area of 48,000 square metres, two warehouses of 5,000 square metres each, three transit sheds of 5,000 square metres each, and other facilities such as outer and inner palm oil berths, and conventional berths.
